If the welding structure material is ordinary low-carbon steel, an arc welding transformer can be selected; if the welding structure requirements are high and low-hydrogen type welding rods are required, a DC arc welder should be selected.
If it is thick and large welding, an electroslag welder can be used; if it is bar butt welding, cold pressure welding machine and resistance butt welding machine can be selected. For active metals or alloys, heat-resistant alloys and corrosion-resistant alloys, inert gas shielded welding machine, plasma arc welding machine, electron beam welding machine, etc. can be selected according to specific circumstances.
For large-scale welding structures with fixed structural forms and sizes, special welding machines can be selected.
2. Actual use
Different welding equipment can weld the same weldment, which requires the selection of more suitable welding equipment according to actual use.
If there is no power source or gas source when welding outdoors, arc welding generators such as diesel (gasoline) DC arc welding generators can only be used as welding equipment.
For precision weldments that are not allowed to be processed or heat treated after welding, electron beam welders with concentrated energy, no need to add filler metal materials, less heat-affected zone, and high precision should be used.
3. Economic benefits
When welding, the energy consumption of welding equipment is considerable. When selecting welding equipment, it should be considered that welding equipment with low power consumption and high power factor should be selected as much as possible while meeting the process requirements.
