Welding positioners can be divided into the following categories according to their structural forms and movement modes:
Arm-type welding positioner: The rotary table is installed at one end of the arm. The arm generally rotates at an angle relative to a certain tilting axis, and the position of this tilting axis is mostly fixed, but some can also tilt up and down within a range of less than 100°. This type of positioner has a large displacement range and good operational adaptability, but poor overall stability. Its applicable scope is the flipping and positioning of small and medium-sized workpieces below 1t, and it is widely used in manual welding.
Seat-type welding positioner: The worktable has an overall flipping degree of freedom, which can flip the workpiece to the ideal welding position for welding. In addition, the worktable has a rotational degree of freedom. This type of positioner has been produced in series and is mainly used for welding of some pipes and discs. The worktable edge and the rotary mechanism are supported on the tilting axes on both sides. The worktable rotates at the welding speed, and the tilting edge is tilted at a constant speed within a range of 140° through a fan gear or a hydraulic cylinder. The machine has good stability and is generally not fixed on the foundation, so it is easy to move. Its application range is the flipping and positioning of workpieces from 1 to 50t. It is the most widely used structural form at present and is often used in conjunction with telescopic arm welding manipulators.
Double-seat welding positioner: It is a positioner that integrates flipping and rotation functions. Flipping and rotation are driven by two axes respectively. In addition to rotating around its own axis, the worktable that clamps the workpiece can also tilt or flip around another axis. It can adjust the welds at various positions on the weldment to a horizontal or "ship-shaped" easy-to-weld position for welding, and is suitable for welding frame-type, box-type, disc-type and other non-long workpieces.
